She believed she was God.
Andrew was the one she trusted with what was actually true.
For ten months, he was her partner. Before the Love Has Won cult had its name, before the documentaries, before the mummified corpse
—he was inside the inner circle as the cult’s mythology was being written.
He helped build it. He watched her believe it.
And he watched her start to need it.
Then he walked.

The Book
The War on Love is the origin story of Love Has Won — written by the man who helped build it, then tore it down from the inside. It’s not a survivor’s story in the conventional sense. It’s the unfragmented account of what Amy actually believed, what she said when no one else was listening, and the patterns inside the cult that the documentaries couldn’t capture.
Andrew left Love Has Won in 2015.
By the time he wrote the book, his account had appeared in HBO’s documentary Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God, Dateline NBC, and VICE — but he had never told the story in his own words. In December 2022, he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The diagnosis became the reason he finally did.
He shares it now not to relitigate the past — but to help others recognize the patterns before they get pulled in. Whether the cult is religious, romantic, or the quiet ones we tell ourselves.
