This past week I sat down with Daniel Lucas of Book Review 101, the #1-ranked podcast on PodMatch, and easily one of the most professional, thoughtful interview platforms I’ve been part of so far. The focus wasn’t shock value or emotional chaos. It was about the book. The writing, the lessons, the struggle of the deeper human experience.

And I showed up ready because I want my message to stick. I’m here to spread the good vibes to the best of my ability, and it was a great interview.
Every question he asked was important and my answers weren’t rehearsed or packaged, but 100% real and straight from the heart. From the writing process to the darkest moment in the story, I kept my focus on one thing: connecting with the audience.
Here are some of the key questions I was asked… and how I answered.
📚 What’s the book really about?
The War on Love is a memoir about my time inside the Love Has Won cult, and my relationship with Amy Carlson, known to the world as “Mother God.” But at its core, it’s about something deeper. It’s a journey through deception, identity, and transformation. It’s about what happens when someone you love claims to be divine, and you have to decide what’s real.
✍️ Was it hard to write?
Absolutely. Writing it forced me to relive the experience from a dispassionate place, where I had to face every angle of what happened. The things I did, the things I allowed, and the emotions I had tried to avoid.
I realized that simply “letting it go” doesn’t work. Sometimes, in trying to forget, you skip the actual healing.
That’s why I created my FIRE and RISE method:
Feel It, Investigate It, Rewrite It, Embody It & Rebuild, Integrate Share, and Enrich!
That’s how I processed the pain and turned it into something useful. Not just for me, but for anyone going through their own transformation.
I realized that I was using the same steps to process my feelings and the system just came naturally. I hope it will serve to help others in some way , processing their own challenges using a system that’s tested and proven to work.
But without further adieu, I give you a quick taste of the interview we did, which will be released in the next few weeks across social media and podcast platforms.
Enjoy!
💔 What’s the biggest lesson you learned?
Unconditional love.
Even after everything — the manipulation, the delusion, the false persona — I came to see that Amy, the human being behind “Mother God,” was still deserving of love. Not blind devotion, not enablement. But the kind of love that sees the broken parts and chooses to care anyway.
⚖️ How did you balance love and devotion?
It wasn’t easy. I spent my days dismantling the false belief system — challenging the Mother God narrative — while simultaneously serving Amy, the woman, like a queen. Like I would in any relationship. It was a spiritual tightrope. But that contrast taught me more about real love than any book or teacher ever could.
🕯️ What was your reaction to her mummification?
There’s no way to explain it. Her family and I were both stunned.
Her body had been carried across state lines in a sleeping bag, then laid in a bedroom, wrapped in Christmas lights, rotting, with children in the house. Incense was used to mask the smell. Her skin had turned blue. I described this during the show because I think it’s important people understand — this wasn’t just bizarre. It was heartbreaking. Unthinkable. And it’s not a punchline.
🔥 Any advice for people facing tough situations?
You were built with everything you need to overcome whatever’s in front of you.
We’ve all felt trapped — maybe not in a cult, but in a toxic job, relationship, or situation where our soul felt split in two. The key is not to define your struggle as a “mistake.” That word removes your power. Instead, face it with authenticity. Decide what your highest outcome looks like — and take one small step. Then another. And one day, you’ll look back and realize… you climbed a mountain.
